Govt retrieves encroached lands worth Rs 24 crore

Thiruvallur, May 24 (UNI) The District administration today retrieved its encroached lands on which illegal constructions were put up.

Talking to newspersons here the District Collector Ranvir Prasad while presiding over the concluding day of the Ambattur Taluka Office Jamabandi festival said in this district, especially from Ambattur Taluka border areas, illegal constructions were demolished and forceful occupants were evicted.

Mr Prasad said he had so far cleared 442 petitions out of 2966 submitted by the people. Drinking water and other basic amenities would be provided to the people residing at Mogappair in this district, he added.

He said the district administration had collected Urban Land Tax worth Rs 6,55,134.
