CRPF personnel awarded for defusing IED on Muzaffarabad road
Srinagar, May 24 (UNI) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today announced that it would reward the personnel who averted a major tragedy by foiling militants' plan of blowing up the Karvan-e- Aman bus, carrying 22 Muzaffarabad-bound passengers.
A CRPF spokesman said a Raod Opening Party (ROP) of 163 batallion CRPF along with sniffer dog squad averted the tragedy when they detected a tin container containing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) covered with newspapers near a tree alongside the main highway near Lawapora on the Sriangar-Baramulla road.
He said the bomb disposal squad of the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police later defused the IED.
The spokesman said a cash reward of Rs 10,000 has been announced by the Director General of the CRPF for its personnel.
