Court allows Delhi Police to investigate Abu Salem in MCOCA case

New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) A local court today allowed an application, filed on behalf of the Special Cell of Delhi Police seeking investigation of Abu Salem in a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) case of 2002.

It was alleged that Abu Salem and the other co-accused threatened Ashok Gupta, a resident of Greater Kailash, and allegedly demanded Rs five crore from him in April 2002.

An FIR was registered in Greater Kailash police station in this matter. Abu Salem has been proclaimed offender while the other co-accused are facing the trial.

Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur, after hearing the application, allowed the Special Cell of Delhi Police to investigate the role in the MCOCA case of Abu Salem, who had been extradited from Portugal to India.
