CM announces assistance of Rs 50,000 to victim's family

Chennai, May 24 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced an assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the families of 28 people, killed in a wall collapse at Tirupur last night.

An official release here said the solatium would be paid from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.

Expressing his condolences to the bereaved families, Mr Karunanidhi also announced an assistance of Rs 15,000 each to the seven people injured in the accident.

The release said following instructions from Mr Karunanidhi, state Ministers Pongalur N Palanisamy, M P Saminathan, I Periyasamy and E V Velu rushed to the spot to take up relief measures.

AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa also condoled the death of 28 people in the accident and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
