7 militants, PDP leader, CRPF jawan injured,hideout busted in J
Srinagar, May 24 (UNI) Seven militants were killed and a leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan were injured in reparate incidents while security forces recovered war like stores in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
An official spokesman said three militants were killed when they were buried under a snow avalanche at Shain Shah Talab in Ramban area.
The bodies of the slain Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants identified as Anayat Ullah alias Zakir alias Sher Khan, Mohammad Iqbal alias Sahil and Farooq Ahmad were recovered this morning, he said.
He said the decomposed body of a Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Ghulam Mohiuddin alias Abu Umar was recovered from Basmina Nallah under police station Warwan last night.
A police spokesman said body of a HM militant Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani was recovered from Rambiar Nullah at Meloora in Pulwama today.
Wani fell into nullah after he was shot dead by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on May 22 during an enocunter.
He said security forces killed a militant in an encounter at Tangwari in the frontier district of Kupwara today.
He said militants attacked a CRPF patrol party near railway track at Awantipora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama last night.
The firing was returned and in the exchange of fire one CRPF jawan identified as Suraj Bhan was injured. Militants later managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
He said militants shot at and wounded Abdul Ahad Bhat, a local leader of PDP, a coalition partner in the government, at Yaripora.
He has been hospitalised.
Security forces busted a hideout at Baramulla and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, including 26 UBGL grenades, five hand grenades, two wireless sets, 12 magazines and more than 300 rounds of ammunition. However, no one was arrested, he said.
He said Budgam police recovered one AK-47 rifle along with a magazine and 28 rounds from the cowshed of one Mohd Akbar Khan at Kokerkhol in the central Kashmir district of Badgam today.
