Three CPM activists injured in clash in Shimla

Shimla, May 23 (UNI) Three CPM activists were injured after they were attacked by Congress activists, two hours after polling for the Shimla Municipal Corporation concluded here today, police sources said.

The injured, who have been identified as Sunil and Nishu, were attacked by Congress activists, identified only as Tittu, Gujjar, Dinesh and Manu, and residents of Chamyana ward in the Cemetary ward without any provocation, the sources told UNI here.

They said the assailants fled the scene after being challenged by other CPM activists, who alleged that they were known history sheeters and members of the local liquor mafia.

Meanwhile, party's state secretariat member Tikender Singh Panwar has demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and the registration of a case against them.

He said the party would resort to direct action unless the culprits were arrested.
