Sikhs demand closure of Sacha Sauda Deras in Rajasthan

Hanumangarh, May 23 (UNI) A religious congregation (Sarbat Khalsa), held by various Sikh organisations in Santpura village of this district yesterday, has demanded closure of all Deras of Sacha Sauda Mission in Rajasthan.

The congregation also demanded the arrest of the Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and registering of FIR against him for alleged forced conversions.

A delegation of Sikhs later submitted a memorandum to district administration authorities to press for the demands.

Sikh religious leader and Takhat Damdama Sahib Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh was also scheduled to attend the congregation but he could not come.

The Jathedar was to come from Bhatinda town of Punjab but the security forces did not allow him to travel to Rajasthan, Mr Nandgarh's media advisor Baljinder Singh said.
