Sena blames Mayawati's transfer policy for Gorakhpur blasts

Varanasi, May 23 (UNI) Shiv Sena here today blamed the Mayawati government's penchant for regular administrative and police department shake up in Uttar Pradesh responsible for the serial blasts, which rocked Gorakhpur last evening.

Angered by the three serial blasts in the busy Golghar area of Gorakhpur that resulted in injuries to five people, the Shiv Sena set ablaze the effigy of Islamic terrorism in Chowk area here.

Led by district president Gulshan Kapoor, the saffron brigade also carried out an anti-terror procession in the city, which was rocked by twin blasts on March 7, 2006.

The Sena leader also blamed both the Centre and UP government for failing to prevent the contemporaneous blasts in Gorakhpur, despite the powerful blasts at Mecca Mosque in Hyderabad on May 18.

He particularly slammed the Mayawati government's policy of frequent administrative and police department shake up for the Gorakhpur blasts.

''The transfer policy has lowered the morale of the police and administrative officials from top to bottom. In Gorakhpur, the blasts took place just after new police and administrative officials had taken over from predecessors, who were well acquainted with ground situation in the city,'' Mr Kapoor alleged.

The Sena demanded urgent steps to check the possibility of Gorakhpur style blasts in Varanasi also. ''Regular checks should be carried out by police in sensitive localities of the city,'' he said.
