S African held for possession of live bullets in baggage

Tiruchirapalli, May 23 (UNI) A South African national was taken into custody by the police for possessing six live bullets when he arrived at Tiruchirapalli International Airport from Chennai by Air Deccan flight this afternoon.

Police said Jecobus Ferreira Botham (53) was found in possession of the live bullets in his travel bag, when he was scanned by the police.

During interrogation, Botham confessed he had mistakenly taken the bullets with him and was going to a private industry at Ariyamangalam area, here.

Stating the interrogation was on, the police refused to divulge further details.
