Reservations for Muslims from this academic year: Minister

Mahabubnagar, May 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Energy and Minority Welfare Mohd Ali Shabbir today said Muslims would be provided reservation from this academic year itself.

Talking to newspersons here, he said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was keen on Muslims not losing an academic year and was doing his best to implement the reservation legislation from this academic year itself.

Answering questions, he said the government was considering the objections raised by different courts and was consulting eminent jurists to overcome them.

He however said no decision was so far taken on whether four or five percent reservation should be provided to the Muslims.
