Police gets vital clues in Gorakhpur blasts

Gorakhpur, May 23 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Police today claimed to have collected vital clues in the serial blasts, that rocked the district last evening.

''We have vital clues. Since, the Special Task Force (STF) of police is still investigating the case, it would be immature to disclose anything now,'' Director General of Police Girdhari Lal Sharma told mediapersons here.

Asked if there was a pattern in such blasts, since most of them occurred on Tuesday -- a day pious to the Hindus, Mr Sharma said anything could be said only after a probe into it.

He added this could be the handiwork of terrorist outfits or some petty criminals, but anything could emerge only after a probe.

Later, the DGP instructed senior officials to keep round the clock vigil to pre-empt such attacks.

Four people were grievously wounded in three explosions within five minutes duration between 1900 hrs to 1915 hrs at a petrol pump, Baldev Plaza Market and Hotel York in the busy Gol Ghar area here last evening.
