Liquor rates must not exceed MRP: Minister
Rajahmundry, May 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Excise and Prohibition Minister Jakkampudi Ramamohan Rao today warned liquor shop owners not to sell liquor at rates exceeding the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
Addressing newspersons here, he said 167 cases have been registered against shops which sold liquor at more than MRP and stern action was being initiated against those found guilty. There were 6,500 shops and 1,300 bars in the State, earning a revenue of Rs 2,600 crore.
Mr Rao said a decision was taken at a review meeting that advertisement films on prohibition would be screened through eletronic media.
He said 360 women Home Guards would be appointed in excise stations.
