Life imprisonment to kidnappers in J'khand

Koderma, May 23 (UNI) A local court today sentenced five persons to life imprisonment for kidnapping a trader last year in this district.

According to prosecution, a stone trader Bhatu Rana was abducted on February 25, 2006 from Domchanch area.

The trader was released following an encounter between the police and kidnappers in the Gajhandi forest area, a week after his abduction.

One of the hostage-takers was killed in the encounter and five others were arrested later.

The fast track court of Virendra Pratap Singh today awarded life sentence and fine of Rs 20,000 each to the five kidnappers.
