J'khand has special place in country's atomic map: Kakodar
Ranchi, May 23 (UNI) Chairperson of Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary of Atomic Enegry Department Anil Kakodkar today said that Jharkhand has acquired a special place in the country's atomic map as the requirement of Uranium is fulfilled from the state.
Speaking at the 17th convocation function of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, here Mr Kakodkar said, ''Uranium minning operation in Jharkhand is being conducted under correct safety measures and high level technology.'' Mr Kakodkar said surveys have revealed that mining had not caused any harm to the people living in nearby areas.
He said with the booming Indian economy, there was ample opportunity which had attracted a number of multinational companies here.
Jharkhand governor Syed Sibtey Razi said technology was a key to economic development.
About 13 students were conferred with PhD degress, gold medal to 16 students and degree- diploma were given to 2,328 students in the convocation programme.
