'Ghasiram Kotwal' to entertain Agri-Business Meet delegates
Bhopal, May 23 (UNI) Popular Marathi play 'Ghasiram Kotwal' would be staged at Bharat Bhawan for more than 400 delegates, including foreigners, attending the 'Agri-Business Meet' here on May 25.
Agriculture experts and investors from different countries have been invited for this unique two-day meet, being hosted by the Madhya Pradesh government to attract investment in the agriculture sector.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the United States and United Kingdom for ten days early this month to attract investors to the state.
'Ghasiram Kotwal' is a famous play which was written in the Marathi language by Vijay Tendulkar in 1973. An all-time favourite, the play was first directed by Jabbar Patel in Pune, with the music of Mohan Upreiti.
The play incorporates folk traditions of Marathi stage like 'Lavni' and 'Tamasha' and is majestically coupled with traditional costumes and music.
The play spuns around the story of transformation of a ordinary Brahmin Ghasiram into an unfeigned monster.
The storyline reflects the irony of Indian society where a Brahmin becomes an object of mockery for others and he decides to take revenge from his fellow people.
