Funds allocated to Meghalaya under SGRY, ARWSP

Shillong, May 23 (UNI) The Ministry of Rural Development has released grants-in-aid of Rs 308.36 lakh as third additional installment of Central assistance for 2006-07 to three districts in Meghalaya. East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi districts of the state have been provided with the fund for implementation of SGRY, official sources said.

About Rs 62.72 lakh had also been released as part of first instalment, out of the total Rs 376.30 lakhs to West Khasi Hills as Central aid for implementation of the SGRY during the current fiscal. Besides, the ministry had released Rs 741.03 lakh to the state towards part of first installment of funds against the provisional allocation of Rs 4446 lakh under the Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (Normal) during 2007-08.

This release is being made for extension of schemes to provide safe drinking water facilities to rural areas and schools under the Centrally sponsored ARWSP.
