Early onset of monsoon in Kerala unlikely: IMD

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) The early onset of monsoon over Kerala, as predicted earlier, is highly unlikely due to 'sudden meteorological changes' causing disruption of normal flow pattern.

Soon after the onset of monsoon over Andaman Sea, a cyclonic storm formed over East-Central Bay of Bengal, moved North-Eastward and crosed Bangladesh coast, thereby disrupting monsoon flow, said the India Meteorological Department.

However, the monsoon was slowly organising now and a weak cross equatorial flow has established over the Arabian Sea accompanied by thin clouds, but was being inhibited by an anomalous low-level circulation over West-Central Arabian Sea and persistence of mid-Latitude westerly trough over the Indian region.

In the light of these developments onset of monsoon over Kerala was unlikely in the next 3-4 days, the IMD added.
