DY SPO shot by militant in Poonch

Jammu, May 23 (UNI) A militant shot a Deputy Superintendent of Police near his residence at Mehndar town of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district this morning, an official spokesman said.

Army spokesman Col D K Badola told UNI that at about 0945 hrs, an unidentified militant opened indiscriminate fire at Jugal Manhas when he was going to office.

The critically wounded police officer was shifted to a nearby civil hospital.

Security forces have launched a combing and search operation in the town to nab the ultra, he added.
