Dera chief should go to Amritsar to apologise: HSGPC

Kaithal, MAY 23 (UNI) The Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (Adhoc) today demanded that Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh go to Amritsar to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple and apologise at the Akal Takht for his alleged act of dressing up like Guru Gobind Singh.

''The hurt sentiments of Sikhs could not be pacified only by expressing regrets by Dera head by sitting in Sirsa. If he is a religious-minded saint, he should go to Amritsar to pay obeisance at the Harmandar Sahib and apologise at the Akal Takht so that peace can be restored,'' HSGPC leader Jagdish Singh Jhinda said after a meeting of the committee held here to discuss the prevailing situation.

Mr Jhinda said the HSGPC strongly condemned the ''blasphemous'' act of the Dera head and felt that the mistake committed by him knowingly or unknowingly needed to be rectified to restore peace .

He said if Dera head failed to go to Amritsar, the HSGPC would request the Haryana government to ''drive him away from Haryana so that peace in state could be maintained.'' UNI
