Centre approves Rs 2679 cr for development of Faridabad

Chandigarh, May 23 (UNI) The Centre has approved a sum of Rs 2679.11 crore under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for the development of infrastructure of Faridabad town in Haryana under City Development Plan.

Stating this, Minister of State for Urban Development Savitri Jindal said that four Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) amounting to Rs 1080.24 crore had been submitted to the Union Ministry of Urban Development.

The Centre, she said, had approved the scheme for revamping of sewerage system and sewerage treatment works in Faridabad costing Rs 103.83 crore and a sum of Rs 12.89 crore had been released for this purpose by the Central government.

Ms Jindal said that Ministry of Housing and Poverty Alleviation had also approved two DPRs of JNNURM for construction of 3248 living units costing Rs 64.32 crore and first instalment amounting to Rs 4.58 crore had already been released for this purpose.

She said the Haryana government had also forwarded a Rs 174.59 crore scheme to the Ministry of Urban Development under Urban Infrastructure Development Schemes for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT). Bahadurgarh, Hisar, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Jagadhari, Karnal and Panipat would be covered under the scheme.

The Centre, she said, had already sanctioned a sum of Rs 82.22 crore for the sewerage system and treatment plants at Bahadurgarh and solid waste management schemes of Rohtak and Karnal towns.
