BJP to hold organisational elections in 2 months
New Delhi, May 23: The core group of the BJP today decided to hold organisational elections in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Manipur in the next two months where they could not be held because of the Assembly polls.
A decision to this effect was taken at the BJP core group's meeting at the residence of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee which also discussed the patry's next National Executive at Jaipur, scheduled to be held from June 15 to 17.
Briefing newspersons after the meeting, BJP president Rajnath Singh said the meeting neither discussed presidential polls nor the electoral rout in Uttar Pradesh.
Asked about NDA's choice for Presidentship, Mr Singh said Mr Vajpayee had been authorised to talk to NDA and non-NDA parties for a consensus choice.
''I can't say anything about his statement (where he had refused to stand for the post of President) but any decision on the issue will be taken by the NDA,'' he added.
