BJP delegation to call Mah Governor over sugarcane issue

Mumbai, May 23 (UNI) A BJP delegation, led by party's national general secretary Gopinath Munde and State BJP president Nitin Gadkari, will call on Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna tomorrow to highlight problems of sugarcane growers and the lathicharge on BJP agitation in which Mr Munde and several other legislators were injured.

The BJP had organised 'burn sugarcane' agitation on May 19 and Mr Munde was hit on his right hand in police caning. Apparently, he had to undergo surgery.

Sugarcane growers are facing a stiff problem as nearly 50,000 tonnes of sugarcane is going to be uncrushed by the end of May as the crushing factories are expected to close by May 31.
