Aizawl, May 22 (UNI) Three opposition parties of Mizoram-Congress, Mizoram People's Conference (MPC) and Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) today demanded President's rule in the state.

A memorandum in this regard was submitted to Governor Lt Gen (Rtd) M M Lakhera at the Raj Bhavan.

In the memorandum signed by MPCC president Lal Thanhawla, ZNP president Laduhoma and MPC president Brig T Sailo, it was stated that the political situation in Mizoram was in a critical state and the President's intervention was needed.

The memorandum alleged that Chief Minister Zoramthanga employed Manipur-based underground outfit Zo Re-unification Organisation's members as campaigners during the 2003 Assembly election at his home constituency Champhai and adjoining Khawbung constituency in appreciation of which the CM gave ZRO leader Hang Sian Thang Rs 2 lakhs.

It also pointed out how Bangladesh's Shanti Bahini 'helped' MNF candidates during the 2006 bypolls in Chawngte constituency in southern Mizoram and how a Hmar National Army was formed at the 'behest' of MNF leaders to counter the MNF-unfriendly Hmar People's Convention.

It also mentioned about the MNF's alleged giving of ransom money to Bru National Liberation Front in 2000 for the release of three persons abducted by the then banned outfit.
