Nagaland gets Rs 57 cr for self employment of poor families

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) The Centre has sanctioned grants-in-aid of Rs 57.49 crore to five districts of Nagaland under the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) for 2007-08.

Under SGSY, assistance is given for self-employment of families living below poverty line. It actively promotes group approach by organising the rural poor into Self-Help Groups, an official release today said.

The amount which is the part payment of first instalment of Central share of funds should be utilised as per SGSY guidelines.

The Nagaland government should release its 25 per cent share of the funding within a month of the date of release of the Central assistance, the release added.

The Centre has also granted an amount of Rs 11.04 lakh to Kohima District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) towards restoration of cut on account of late submission of Central share of funds under the scheme during 2006-07.
