Patna, May 21 (UNI) A senior official of Tata Motors was killed after being pushed out off the 8th floor of a multi-storyed building by armed criminals here yesterday, police said today.

Police said two gun-toting criminals entered the residence of the member (Judicial) of the Central Administrative Tribunal, Sadhana Srivastava, and mistook Tata Motors Assistant General Manager Suresh Mahto, present there, as one C V Singh and severely assaulted him.

They then flung him off the verandah, killing him instantaneously.

Police said though Ms Srivastava and Mr Mahto tried to convince the intruders that C V Singh, an assistant of a CAT member, was not present in the house, the assialants did not believe them.

The duo also assaulted Ms Srivastava and looted cash and valuables before escaping.

The police arrested one of the alleged assailants, found hiding in the backyard of the building, after sustaining injuries while trying to flee. Combing and search operations were launched to nab the other person.

The incident generated panic among the people who blamed the police for the alleged steady deterioration of law and order in the state.

A recent judgement passed by the CAT member and her assistant is believed to be the reason behind the murder.
