SIM card recovered from Mecca Masjid was bought under fake name
Ranchi, May 21 (UNI) The SIM card recovered from the mobile phone, used in the May 18 Mecca Masjid blast in Hyderabad, was bought under a fake name from Mihijam on the West Bengal-Jharkhand border.
District Superintendent of Police, Jamtara, Hemant Toppo told UNI today that the Hutch SIM card recovered from the Mecca mosque in Hyderabad was sold by a retailer Sayed Khan about a year ago.
The SIM card of the phone that triggered the blast, killing several people, was sold under the name of one Babulal Yadav, Mr Toppo added.
Yesterday, Sayed Khan was interrogated by the West Bengal police in this connection and later released, sources added.
''During the interrogation, the retailer revealed that Babulal Yadav, a resident of Rupnarayanpur, had submitted a xerox copy of his driving licence,'' Mr Toppo confirmed.
The DSP said the xerox copy of the driving licence submitted contained a blurred picture of the licence holder and the name provided therein did not exist.
Although, the SIM card retailer was released by the police, the intelligence slueths were still investigating the matter.
