Sikhs in Raj plan to take out torch-light march;Police on alert

Sriganganangar, May 21 (UNI) The police has been observing high alert in Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and various other p laces in view of the Akal Takht's Punjab bandh call in protest against Dera Sacha Sauda's activities.

Meanwhile Sikhs here expressed their intention to defy the prohibitory orders and carry out a ''torch-light march'' tomorrow.

Director General of Police AS Gill has issued directives to all district police chiefs to maintain extra vigil, a police spokesman said here.

The district administration had already promulgated prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code(CrPC) for past several days in the Sikhs dominated districts of Hanumangarh and Ganganagar.

However, Sikhs here have announced to defy prohibitory orders and carry out mashaal march (torch light march) tomorrow to conincide with the Punjab bandh.
