Salem arrives in Capital, to stay in Tihar Jail

New Delhi, May 21 (UNI) Underworld don and one of the prime accused in the Mumbai blasts case Abu Salem was brought here this evening, accompanied by sleuths of the Anti-Terorist Squad of the Mumbai Police.

Salem, whose security would be handled care by the Mumbai police till the time he is produced in a local court here tomorrow, arrived at about 1910 hrs by the Golden Temple Express at the New Delhi Railway Station.

Accompanied by about ten men of the ATS and more than a dozen Delhi Police men, the gangster wearing a maroon shirt and blue coloured jeans was soon taken to the Tihar Jail in the police bus meant for prisoners amid tight security.

Before boarding the bus, Salem howled at mediapersons using abusive language for allegedly 'harassing' him as they tried to snatch a byte or two.

As per 'schedule' Salen was to get down at Nizamuddin Railway station but due to less stoppage time and huge media rush, officials decided to go on to New Delhi station.

After 'evading' media rush there for about 20 minutes the police managed to take him out from the station to the waiting bus.

Tihar PRO Sunil Gupta confirmed Salem was arriving there while insisting that the cell and Jail number where he would be kept had not yet been decided.
