Rs 8000 crore to be spent on dev of Srinagar, Jammu: Azad

Srinagar, May 21 (UNI) About Rs 8000 crore will be spent on the development of twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu under the Centre's Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM).

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad stated this while addressing block, tehsil and district level officers of the Badgam district in Budgam today.

He said the Centre's liberal funding and launching of several prestigious programmes such as the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan and JNURM would certainly improve the development scenario and bring about healthy socio-economic change in the state.

Mr Azad said Jammu and Kashmir was on the threshold of unprecedented progress and the time has provided an opportunity to march ahead on road to development. The state and central governments were working in tandem and this coordination would ensure the acceleration of the development process, he added.
