Over 34 lakh tonne wheat arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, May 21 (UNI) Over 34.14 lakh tonnes of wheat has arrived in Haryana mandis so far this season as against 29.69 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said out of the total wheat arrival, 7.41 lakh tonnes had been procured by the Food and Supplies Department, 11.81 lakh tonnes by Hafed, 3.27 lakh tonnes by Food Corporation of India, 3.03 lakh tonnes by Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation, about 2.70 lakh tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 2.44 lakh tonnes by Confed.

The private traders, he said, had purchased 3.47 lakh tonnes of wheat.

Sirsa district was leading in the arrival of wheat with over 6.25 lakh tonnes, followed by Fatehabad with 4.78 lakh tonnes, Karnal 4.30 lakh tonnes, Kaithal 4.29 lakh tonnes, Jind 4.21 lakh tonnes and Kurukshetra 2.90 lakh tonnes.
