HRTC not to ply buses to Punjab tomorrow, says Bali

Una, May 21 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Transport Minister G S Bali today said in view of the Punjab bandh tomorrow, the state government has decided to truncate the routes of about 300 Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses plying into or through that state.

Addressing media persons here, he said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of the passengers and the state owned buses.

Mr Bali said alternate routes have been planned for buses plying to Chandigarh from various parts of the state.

Appealing to the commuters to avoid travelling to Punjab or to travel only in Punjab Roadways buses tomorrow, he said the HRTC buses would now ply via Nalagarh and through Haryana up till Chandigarh.

He said all buses going to the National capital would also terminate at Chandigarh.

Mr Bali expressed regret for the inconvenience that would be caused to the passengers due to the one day strike called by the SGPC in Punjab tomorrow.

Meanwhile, an official release here added that in case no untoward incident occurred during the day time in Punjab, the night bus service through the state would ply normally.
