Govt employees pledge to wipe out terrorism from the country

New Delhi, May 21 (UNI) Government employees pledged to work towards wiping off terrorism from the country on the occasion of Anti-Terrorism Day today.

Lakhs of employees in government offices and public sector undertakings and institutions situated throughout the country took the 'Anti-Terrorism pledge' while union Home Minister Shivraj Patil administered the oath to Home Ministry officials in the North Block lawns here.

The objective behind observing Anti-Terrorism Day was to wean away the youth from terrorism and cult of violence by highlighting the sufferings of common people and showing how it was prejudicial to national interest.

The aim was achieved through activities like pledge-taking, organisation of debates/discussions in schools, colleges and universities, holding of symposia/seminars and lectures on the dangers of terrorism and violence.
