Government to remove hurdles faced in taking undertrials to Courts

Bangalore, May 21 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Home M P Prakash today said that steps will be taken to remove hurdles faced in taking the undertrials to the Courts by appointing ex army personnel.

Speaking after inaugurating supply of free food by ISCON under 'Akshaya Patra Foundation' at Central Jail in the outskirts of the City, he said that due to shortage of staff prisoners were deprived of immediate justice. Efforts have been made to speed up trial through video conferencing, he added.

He said that to rehabilitate prisoners government has introduced several handicraft courses and Rs Five crore has been earmarked in the Budget for supply needed raw material.

Mr Prakash said that if the ISCON's free meals scheme succeeds it would be extended to other jails in the State.
