Educational institutions to remain closed in Patiala tomorrow

Patiala, May 21 (UNI) All shops and educational institutions in this district will remain closed tomorrow on account of the 'bandh' called by the Sikh clergy to protest against the anti-Sikh activities of Dera Sacha Sauda chied Baba Gurmeet Ram Raheem Singh.

A peace committee meeting presided by Deputy Commissioner D S Grewal here today decided that all educational institutes, shops and commercial establihsments would remain closed tomorrow.

The meeing was attended by Akali leaders Kirpal Singh Baduganr, Harmel Singh Tohra, Surjit Singh Kohli, Madan Lal Jalalpur-MLA. The other political parties who participated included the Congress, CPI, CPM, BJP, Shiv Sena, BSP etc.

The examinations of Punjabi University, to be held tomorrow on the campus and its affiliated colleges have been postponed. New date for the cancelled examinations will be available with the concerned Centre Superintendent.
