Eco-clubs to take part in Biological Diversity Day celebration

Chandigarh, May 21 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration has decidied to celebrate International Day for Biological Diversity tomorrow in collaboration with NGOs and eco-clubs of different schools set-up under National Green Corps.

The day would be celebrated to reflect on people's responsibility to safeguard the precious heritage of bio-resources for future generations.

The Administration in association with "Yuvsatta", an NGO, is organizing tree and bird watching contest on May 22, in which teams from different schools will participate.

The Environment Department has distributed posters and brochures on the theme 'Biodiversity and climate change' to all the eco-clubs of the schools for generating awareness among students about biodiversity.

The United Nations has proclaimed May 22 as the International Day for Biological Diversity for increasing understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues.
