Cross-firings between BSF and BDR in West Bengal
Basirhat, May 20 (UNI) Heavy firings were exchanged between the BSF and Bangladesh Rifles for two successive nights near the bordering village of Amudia and its adjoining areas under Swarupnagar police station in North 24 Parganas.
Cross-firings began since May 19, when BSF objected to the construction of a wall by the BDR along side the international border, police said today.
BSF earlier objected BDR's construction of such wall without going through a joint meeting.
Reacting to the objection, BDR later on that night started firing across the border which BSF retaliated.
Both sides were involved in cross-firing last night spending a few hundred rounds of cartridges. However, no casualty was reported so far, police said.
