Court rejects Ratanprabha's plea seeking stay on film

Mumbai, May 21 (UNI) A local court today rejected a petition filed by Ratanprabha Dolas, mother of gangster Maya Dolas, seeking a stay on release of film 'Shootout at Lokhandwala', which is based on her son's life.

Additional Civil Court Judge A V Deore upheld the argument of Advocate Ashok Kohli, representing the producer, and rejected the application.

Mr Kohli asked why the applicant did not object when the shooting of the film was on since last one year. He alleged that the motive of the applicant might be to make money by moving such an application.

The advocate said the film was based on the book ''The Surrender,'' written by Mr A A Khan.

Advocate Pandit Chandrabushan Mishra, representing Ratanprabha, stated in the petition that the film is based on Maya Dolas's life.

He was shown as a gangsgter, which is incorrect, as he was an innocent person, killed in a fake encounter.

Mr Mishra said they will appeal in the Bombay High Court for stay on the release of film.
