Kolkata, May 21(UNI) Coal India Limited(CIL) will sign MoU with Bharat Earth Movers(BEML) and Damodar Valley Corporation(DVC) next week to revive the ailing Durgapur-based Mining&Allied Machineries Corporation(MAMC).

Speaking to UNI, CIL Director (Technical) N C Jha today said, ''The draft MoU, which will be signed with the companies, has been approved by the CIL board.''.

A team of CIL representatives would meet state Commerce&Industry Minister Nirupam Sen and Industry Secretary Sabyasach Sen to inform the state government about the developments regarding revival of MAMC.

Following the signing of the MoU, the CIL would appoint a consultant for studying the status of this closed unit and survey the condition of the machineries. ''We will engage a consultant soon after the MoU is signed. Our engineers will assess the infrastructure in the unit. The legal and financial aspects need to be examined as well,'' Mr Jha added.

Following the three-way joint venture, the CIL and other companies would decide on the amount of investment.

The CIL might tie up with some foreign, most probably a Chinese Manufacturing Federation, for borrowing technology.

CIL intends to source equipment necessary for underground mining from MAMC. Some of the CIL subsidiaries already use equipment manufactured by the MAMC.

''A few days back, BEML had approached Coal India showing interest to revive the ailing MAMC,'' he said.

CIL and DVC had jointly expressed interest in acquiring MAMC and had approached the West Bengal government for revival of the closed unit a few months back.
