Bomb scare call at Hussain Sagar lake proves to be hoax

Hyderabad, May 21 (UNI) The Hyderabad police, which has been on tenterhooks after Mecca Masjid bomb blast on Friday, today spent some tense moments after it received a phone call informing them of an explosion at the Hussain Sagar Lake, adjoining the Secretariat.

Saifabad police personnel, who rushed to the spot with bomb disposal and dog squads and expert swimmers finally found it was a hoax.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Uma Maheswara Rao told UNI though the police found no crater which would inevitably be found after a bomb blast or any residue they took no chance and conducted a thorough search. They also took the help of expert swimmers.

When it was mentioned that some of the visitors to the picturesque lake told mediapersons that they heard a deafening sound, the ACP said four or five people also told the police that they heard a sound. He was, however, sure the sound was not caused by bomb explosion.
