Bomb scare call at Hussain Sagar lake
Hyderabad, May 21 (UNI) The Hyderabad police, which has been on tenterhooks after Mecca Masjid bomb blast on Friday, today spent some tense moments after it received a phone call informing of an explosion at the Hussain Sagar lake, adjoining the Secretariat.
Saifabad police personnel, who rushed to the spot, however, said they did not find any evidence of a bomb blast.
Saifabad Police Station Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Umamaheswar Rao said generally a bomb blast would leave a crater of half to one foot, but no such crater was found.
However, Madhusudana Reddy, a tourist, told reporters that he heard a deafening sound and ran away from the spot and when he turned around, he found lot of smoke billowing.
Dismissing the possibility of any blast, police, however, said they would investigate into the matter.
