BJP alleges violation of model code of conduct by Congress

Shimla, May 21 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP today alleged violation of model code of conduct by the state Congress for the Hamirpur Lok Sabha by-polls, saying hoardings, depicting achievements of the state government have not been taken down.

The party faxed letter to the Chief Election Commissioner and State Election Commission, alleging that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his cabinet colleagues were using their official vehicles while campaigning for the party candidates.

Referring to the misuse of the helicopter by the chief minister, party leaders said Mr Singh used it for coming to Bilaspur and then to the state capital for addressing rallies on Saturday and yesterday.

The state government was also continuing with making announcements to allure the electorates and assuring to fulfill their promises after the election process was over, it added.
