Aiyar keen to preserve heritage of NE

Aizawl, May 21: Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar said he was keen to preserve the heritage of the North East region.

Addressing the India National Trust for Art&Culture Heritage (INTACH) seminar here on May 19, Mr Aiyar said he was dissapointed with Centre's failure to support the INTACH's efforts to preserve the rich heritage of NE and promised financial support in this regard.

Apprehending India's heritage was slowly deteriorating, Mr Aiyar stressed the need to preserve these great diversities, mainly in NE.

Dismissing the allegation that the NE people were alienated, Mr Aiyar said NE people were scattered all over the country.

However, he assured to take initiatives to protect and encourage the NE culture.
