C'garh: 88,056 administered polio vaccine drops

Chandigarh, May 21: As many as 88,056 children were administered polio vaccine drops during the first day of Pulse Polio Immunisation Campaign in Chandigarh yesterday, official sources said today.

A total of 547 booths, including 93 mobile booths, were set up for the purpose at different locations and these were manned by 2,100 personnel drawn from departments of Health, Education, Social Welfare, Police etc Pulse Polio Teams began a two-day house-to-house survey from today for immunizing the left over children in the age group upto 5 years in order to achieve the goal of polio free city.

Home Secretary Krishna Mohan has urged the citizens to cooperate with the pulse polio teams during the survey. He thanked various NGOs, social and religious leaders and staff of Chandigarh Administration and other institutions for their active participation in campaign.
