6,900 kg of explosives seized, 4 held in Nagpur district
Nagpur, May 21 (UNI) The police seized a huge quantity of explosives and detonators, being used illegally in a stone quarry, and arrested four people in this connection in rural Nagpur district today.
According to police, 6,900 kilograms of ammonium nitrite, 40 litres of diesel, 301 gelatine sticks and 130 detonators, besides other equipment like drilling machines, were seized from a stone quarry near Kuhi, about 50 kms from here.
The police have arrested the owner of the mine, Dhanraj Badamji Chaudhari, who is a retired superintending engineer of the irrigation department of the state Government, his employee Ramesh Bhalawi, and two suppliers, identified as Ashok Tathe and Ramesh Karemore, all residents of Nagpur, an official said.
A mixture of ammonium nitrite and diesel, which is more powerful than gelatine, used in the stone quarry without the supervision of an expert, police added.
