48-hr Maha Dharna to be held in temple town on May 23
Tirupati, May 21 (UNI) All political parties, barring the BJP and the Congress, will observe a 48-hour-long Maha Dharna on May 23 along with activists and poor families to mount pressure on the Andhra Pradesh government to distribute house sites to poor families under the Bhoopratam scheme.
Addressing a press conference today, CPM District Secretary K Murali said all leaders and activists from the Left parties, TDP, Republican Party, BCs and SCs organisations, and thousands of poor families would participate in the dharna.
Mr Murali also alleged that instead of land grabbers and mafiosi, the police had arrested the poor, including women, who participated in the 'land struggle agitation'.
