3 rowdies arrested; 4 patrol policemen set free

Chennai, May 21 (UNI) Police have arrested three notorious rowdy elements and secured the release of four policemen, posted on patrol duty, from their custody at suburban Chitlapakkam here, last night.

Police said Madan alias Madankumar, Selvakumar and Ganesan created nuisance to the general public by blocking the road in an inebriated condition. On information, the policemen on patrolling duty rushed to the spot and asked the rowdies to disperse peacefully.

A wordy duel ensued and it was alleged that the rowdies held the policemen captive and retained their patrol vehicle also.

On information, another police party, led by an Inspector, rushed to the spot and secured the release of the policemen and arrested the rowdy elements, police added.
