3 quintal poppy recovered, crops of hundreds hectares destroyed
Srinagar, May 21 (UNI) In its continued drive against the drug smugglers, the Jammu and Kashmir police recovered three quintals of poppy and destroyed crops spread over hundreds of hectares in north Kashmir.
A police spokesman said police at Rajpora on a tip-off searched a mini truck at village Chandpora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama last evening and recovered three quintals of the poppy which was being transported to other area.
Police later arrested four smugglers and seized the truck.
Last week, Police along with the Central Bureau of Narcotics, destroyed poppy crop spread over hundreds of hectares of land in the same district during a special drive.
The drive against the menace of narcotics was conducted in village Wakherwan, Navnagri, Wasoora, Chandgam, Badriwan, Bandarpora and Ranzipora.
