Temperature down with rain in some parts of north Rajasthan
Jaipur, May 20 (UNI) Rain in some parts of northern Rajasthan brought some respite for the people who have been reeling under the scorching heat which claimed two lives in Ganganagar district two days before.
According to weather office Bikaneer and Churu yesterday reported 11.4 and 13.8 mm of rain respectively. Pilani in Ganganagar district also reported 4.4 mm of rainfall. Weatherman forecast rain or thunder showers in some places.
The temperature droped by an average of 3-4 degrees Celsius across the state due to the unseasonal rain. Jaipur reported a maximum of 40.3, Kota 42.5, Dabok in Udaipur 38.6, Barmer 39.6, Jaisalmer 39.5, Jodhpur 38.7, Bikaneer 39, Churu 37, and Ganganagar 40.3 degrees Celsius.
The residents of Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh heaved a sigh of relief as both the districts remained overcast with the dusty cloud, followed by heavy rain brining down the temperature last night.
Severe heat wave forced people to remain indoor with temperature hovering around 46 degrees Celsius in both the districts for the last three days.
Mmeanwhile, two drug addicts died due to sunstroke in the last two days.
Police said an unidentified old man has died near the octroi post on Rawatsar Marg in Hanunamangarh city yesterday. While another deceased identified as Budhun Das was found unconsious in Golbazar area and was hospitalised. Later, he succumbed to heat in the hospital.
His body was handed over to his relative after postmortem, police added.
