Sangli bandh over police action evokes partial response
Sangli, Maharashtra, May 20 (UNI) The band called by BJP and Shetkari Sanghatana to protest police lathi-charge yesterday on farmers agitating against excess sugarcane production in Aurangabad, today evoked a partial response.
The protestors gathered at Maruti chowk and burnt an effigy of Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil as a mark of protest, police sources said.
Later they marched to the district collectorate and submitted a memorandum to resident district collector Ram Chandra Shinde.
No untoward incident was reported in the city, police added.
