Probe in 69 cr fund alloted to Safai based college: UP minister
Allahabad, May 20 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Rakesh Dhar Tripathi today said a high level inquiry will be conducted in the allocation of Rs 69 crore fund to a college in Safai, the native village of former chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav which was meant for higher education.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Tripathi alleged ''setting aside all rules and regulations, the previous SP government had allocated Rs 69 crore to a colege in Safai, which was meant for higher education.'' Mr Tripathi underlined an inquiry would also be conducted on the state level against the then district magistrate for the alleged bungling of fund.
Under Mulayam's rule, many irregularities were adopted in the appointment of teachers. The recognitions were given to many degree colleges by taking money and setting aside all the norms of higher education, he charged.
Mr Tripathi said that his government was determined to bring a qualitative change in the higher education and government would form a commission comprising of academicians, educationalists and social workers of eminent fame.
